# YKI Swedish Coach — YKI Swedish test practice

> YKI Swedish Coach (https://ykiexam.com) is an online practice service for the YKI test in Swedish (Yleiset kielitutkinnot / Allmänna språkexamina), intermediate level, grades 3–4 — the language level accepted for Finnish citizenship. It is made in Finland and is not affiliated with the Finnish National Agency for Education (Opetushallitus).

## What it does
- Task bank: 456 speaking and writing tasks, of which 300 are topics that have come up in past YKI exams (same situations, rewritten in the service's own words; no official test material is copied).
- Speaking: YKI-style tasks (Reagera, Dialog, Berätta, Din åsikt) and a full mock test with real timers. The learner speaks; the answer is transcribed and graded in about 30 seconds (an automatic estimate for practice, which can differ from the real exam result) as below 3, borderline 3, solid 3, strong 3 or 4, with only the real mistakes corrected, a "one level up" version, and a fuller model answer.
- Listening: phone calls, voicemails, announcements, news and interviews set in Finland, with natural Swedish voices, test-style questions, transcript, word list and dictation.
- Writing: informal messages, formal e-mails and opinion texts, checked against every bullet point, with spelling and grammar corrections that keep the learner's own words.
- Basics: words, phrases and grammar for the 7 YKI themes (567 items; chapter 1 free for everyone, all chapters with Basic or Pro), practised with multiple choice, matching, listening, typing and word-order exercises that are checked instantly.
- Follow-up questions: the learner can ask the coach about any correction, in English or Swedish.

## Key facts about the YKI Swedish test (checked 17 October 2026, official sources: oph.fi, migri.fi)
- Levels: basic (grades 1–2), intermediate (3–4), advanced (5–6); grade 3 = CEFR B1, grade 4 = B2.
- Four subtests, each graded separately: reading comprehension, writing, listening comprehension, speaking (about 20 minutes, recorded in a studio).
- Finnish citizenship: grade 3 or 4 in speaking + writing, listening + writing, or reading + speaking (intermediate test, Finnish or Swedish); two certificates from different days may be combined.
- Since 1 January 2026 a paid registration cannot be moved; results take about two months; certificates do not expire.
